Mumbai Indians have qualified for the second qualifier of the IPL 2025 after defeating Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in a thrilling match held yesterday.
The eliminator, featuring the third-placed Mumbai Indians and fourth-placed Gujarat Titans from the league stage, took place at the New Chandigarh Stadium in Mohali.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a formidable total of 228/5 in 20 overs.
- Rohit Sharma top-scored with 81 runs,
- while Jonny Bairstow added 47 to the tally.
- Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna claimed 2 wickets each for Gujarat.
In reply, Gujarat Titans managed 208/6 in their 20 overs, falling short by 20 runs.
- Sai Sudharsan fought valiantly with a knock of 80,
- while Washington Sundar contributed 48 runs.
- Kusal Mendis was dismissed for 20.
- Trent Boult picked up 2 key wickets for Mumbai.
With this win, Mumbai Indians move on to face Punjab Kings in the second qualifier, scheduled for tomorrow in Ahmedabad.
The winner of that match will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have already secured a spot in the final scheduled for June 3rd.
Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, have been eliminated from the tournament.
