The fourth day of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Australia in the Warne-Muralitharan Trophy sees Sri Lanka in a difficult position.
At lunch, Sri Lanka’s second innings was at 75/3, still trailing by 489 runs after Australia had dismissed them for 136 runs in their first innings. The Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 165 runs in their first innings, with Australia’s bowlers taking just 52.2 overs to finish the job.
Dinesh Chandimal was the only bright spot for Sri Lanka in their first innings, scoring a steady 72 runs.
After an interruption due to bad weather yesterday, Sri Lanka was invited to bat again, beginning their second innings. At lunch on day 4, Dimuth Karunaratne (0), Oshada Fernando (6), and Dinesh Chandimal (31) were dismissed. Only Angelo Mathews remained, having scored 34 runs and still at the crease.
