Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka has achieved a career-best 17th position in the latest ICC Test batting rankings.
He advanced 14 places from his previous 31st spot, thanks to his outstanding performances against Bangladesh in the recent Test series.
Nissanka scored 187 runs in the first Test and 158 runs in the second, earning him the Player of the Series award.
He now has 685 rating points.
England’s Joe Root tops the rankings, followed by teammate Harry Brook in second place, while New Zealand’s Kane Williamson holds third position.
Among Sri Lankan batters, Kusal Mendis is the highest-ranked at 9th, and Dinesh Chandimal occupies 13th place.
