The much-anticipated first T20 match between India and Australia in Canberra ended without a result due to persistent rain.
The match, which was initially reduced to 18 overs per side because of bad weather, had to be called off after India reached 97 for 1 in 9.1 overs when rain returned and play could not resume.
At the time of the interruption, Shubman Gill was unbeaten on 37, while Suryakumar Yadav was on 39. Nathan Ellis claimed the only wicket for Australia.
Earlier in the tour, Australia clinched the ODI series 2–1, and both sides were looking to start the T20 leg on a positive note before rain intervened.
