Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new captain of the Indian Test cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the decision today.
Gill is set to lead the Indian team for the first time in the upcoming Test series against England scheduled for June this year.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team, replacing Jasprit Bumrah.
This leadership change comes following the announcement of Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket, which created a vacancy for the Test captaincy.
