The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 clash between South Africa and Pakistan took place yesterday in Colombo, where South Africa claimed an impressive 150-run victory despite rain interruptions.
After Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first, rain shortened the match to 40 overs per side. South Africa posted a massive 312/9, with Laura Wolvaardt (90), Marizanne Kapp (68), and Nadine de Klerk (41) leading the charge.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu picked up three wickets each.
Persistent rain halted Pakistan’s innings multiple times, forcing officials to apply the Duckworth-Lewis method, setting a revised target of 234 runs in 20 overs.
However, Pakistan could manage only 83/7 at the end of their innings. Sidra Nawaz remained unbeaten on 22, while Marizanne Kapp shone again with the ball, claiming 3 wickets.
With this emphatic win, South Africa climbed to the top of the points table, and Marizanne Kapp was deservedly named Player of the Match.
