Sri Lanka A cricket team delivered a commanding performance to defeat New Zealand A cricket team by 140 runs in the first ODI of the series played at Galle International Stadium.
After winning the toss, New Zealand A chose to field first. Batting first, Sri Lanka A posted a solid total of 261 all out.
Leading the charge was opener Kamil Mishara, who smashed a quickfire 71 off 49 balls, including 12 fours and a six. Captain Sahan Arachchige added 66 runs, while Milan Rathnayake contributed 53.
For New Zealand A, Christian Clark and Adithya Ashok picked up two wickets each, with the remaining bowlers sharing the rest.
In reply, New Zealand A struggled against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack and were bowled out for just 121 runs. Dale Phillips was the top scorer with 30 runs, but no other batter crossed the 20-run mark.
The standout performer with the ball was Wanuja Sahan, who delivered a sensational spell of 5 wickets for just 13 runs. Sonal Dinusha claimed 2 wickets, while Ravindu Fernando added one.
With this emphatic win, Sri Lanka A cricket team take a 1–0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
