Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially announced that the 2025 Lanka Premier League (LPL) will not be held this year.
The decision was made as preparations are underway for the ICC T20 World Cup, which Sri Lanka will co-host next February. To meet ICC standards, major stadiums across the country are being renovated and upgraded ahead of the global event.
According to SLC, the LPL will be rescheduled to a more suitable time, once the required renovations and arrangements are completed.
Three venues are expected to host World Cup matches, and while games of the ongoing Women’s World Cup are currently being played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, renovations have already begun at the other selected venues.
This move reflects Sri Lanka Cricket’s focus on ensuring the nation is fully prepared to deliver a successful T20 World Cup 2026 as co-hosts.
