Day 4 of the first Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh began today at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh posted a first innings total of 495 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka continued their first innings on Day 4, reaching 465 for 6 by lunchtime.

Kamindu Mendis remained unbeaten on 83 runs, while Milan Rathnayake was not out on 38, as the pair built a crucial lower-order partnership.

Yesterday, Pathum Nissanka played a magnificent innings, crossing the 1000-run milestone in Test cricket and recording his third career Test century. He was eventually dismissed for a career-best 187 runs, laying a strong foundation for Sri Lanka’s innings.

With just 30 runs separating the two sides at lunch, the match remains finely poised heading into the remainder of the day.
