The Sri Lanka Under-19 team clinched a 98-run victory against Bangladesh Under-19 in the first Youth ODI held yesterday at the CCC Grounds in Colombo.
Winning the toss, the Sri Lanka U19 side opted to bat first. They posted 241 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Senuja Weerakoon scored 50 runs, while Chamika Heenatigala remained unbeaten on 78 runs, and Kavija Gamage contributed an unbeaten 60 runs.
In bowling, Iqbal Hossain Emon and Rizan Hossain took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh.
Chasing a target of 242 runs, the Bangladesh U19 team were bowled out for just 143 runs in 33.3 overs.
Kalam Siddiqui top-scored with 46 runs.
For Sri Lanka, Vigneshwaran Akash produced a sensational bowling performance, taking 5 wickets. Kugadasan Matulan and Kithma Vidanapathirana chipped in with 2 wickets each.
The second match of the series is scheduled to be played tomorrow.
