The Rajasthan Royals continued their winning run with a convincing 27-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in a rain-shortened clash in Guwahati.
The match, delayed by rain, was reduced to 11 overs per side, with MI opting to field first.
Young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing, dismantling MI’s experienced bowling attack with fearless strokeplay. The duo stitched a blistering 80-run opening stand in just 30 balls.
Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, smashed 39 off 14 balls, including 5 sixes and a four. Remarkably, he made headlines by launching his very first ball against Jasprit Bumrah for a six.
Jaiswal anchored the innings with a sensational unbeaten 77 off 32 deliveries, laced with 4 sixes and 10 fours.
In response, MI struggled to keep up with the required rate, with none of their batters crossing the 30-run mark. They were restricted to 123/9 in their 11 overs. Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford top-scored with 25 each.
Rajasthan’s bowling unit delivered a clinical performance, with Nandre Burger, Ravi Bishnoi, and Sandeep Sharma picking up two wickets apiece. Tushar Deshpande and Jofra Archer chipped in with one each.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals have now won all three of their matches and sit comfortably at the top of the points table with 6 points. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians remain in seventh place, managing just one win from their three games so far.
