The third Test match of the five-match series between India and England began yesterday at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
England won the toss and opted to bat first, making good use of the conditions. By stumps on Day 1, the hosts had posted 251 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their first innings.
Ollie Pope contributed 44 runs, while Joe Root remained unbeaten on 99, just one run short of another Test century. He was well-supported by Ben Stokes, who also stood not out on 39 at the end of play.
For India, the pick of the bowlers was Nitish Kumar Reddy, who took 2 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah claimed a wicket each.
With the series currently level at 1-1, this Test could prove pivotal as both teams aim to gain the upper hand in the closely contested battle.
