Pakistan clinched a thrilling two-wicket victory over South Africa in the first ODI played in Faisalabad yesterday.
Batting first, South Africa were bowled out for 263 runs in the final over.
Openers Pretorius (57) and Quinton de Kock (63) gave them a strong start with a 98-run partnership, while captain Matthew Breetzke scored 42 and Corbin Bosch contributed 41.
For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each, putting pressure on the visitors.
In reply, Pakistan lost their first wicket at 87 runs, with Fakhar Zaman (45) and Saim Ayub (39) setting a solid base.
A crucial 91-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan (55) and Salman Ali Agha (62) guided Pakistan closer to victory.
Pakistan eventually reached the target with two balls and two wickets to spare.
Salman Ali Agha was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
