Sri Lanka Women produced a sensational batting display to defeat Pakistan Women by eight wickets in the second ODI, with Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama scripting history through a record-breaking partnership.
The second match of the three-match ODI series was played at the Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Pakistan Women posted a competitive 273/5 in their 50 overs, thanks to a superb century from Sidra Amin, who scored 100.
Chasing 274 for victory, Sri Lanka got off to a shaky start when captain Chamari Athapaththu was dismissed for just 1, with the hosts on 20.
From there, Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama took complete control of the chase, putting together a magnificent 203-run partnership for the second wicket.
The stand is now the highest second-wicket partnership by two Sri Lankan women in One-Day International cricket, rewriting the national record.
Vishmi brought up the second ODI century of her career, finishing with a superb 123, while Harshitha remained equally impressive with a brilliant 100.
Sri Lanka reached 275/2 in 46.5 overs, sealing a commanding eight-wicket victory and an unforgettable day for the home side.
