Renown Football Club claimed the championship title of Sri Lanka’s I-League football tournament by defeating Saunders in a gripping final match. The final was organized by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and took place yesterday at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
At the end of the first half, Saunders led the scoreboard 2–1. However, Renown players made a powerful comeback in the second half, scoring three more goals to secure a 4–2 victory. With this win, Renown secured the championship title, while Saunders finished as the runner-up.
Meanwhile, the final of the League One football tournament took place at the Colombo Racecourse grounds between Mawanella United and Great Star. Mawanella United emerged victorious with a dominant 3–0 win. They led the first half 1–0 and added two more goals in the second half to seal the title.
