Sri Lanka’s Harsha Karunaratne claimed the gold medal in the men’s 800m event at the South Asian Senior Athletics Championships, clocking a time of 1 minute and 51.96 seconds.
Karunaratne’s impressive performance further strengthened Sri Lanka’s dominance in track events at the championship, held in India.
Notably, he is the brother of Tharushi Karunaratne, one of Sri Lanka’s leading female athletes, making this victory even more special for the Karunaratne family.
