The Northern Central Province secured the men’s championship in the tug of war event at the 49th National Sports Festival, while the women’s title was claimed by the Western Province.

This year’s festival is being held across three key districts: Galle, Matara, and Colombo. The tug of war competition took place yesterday at the Dadedalla Grounds in Galle, with participation from teams representing all nine provinces.

In the women’s final, Western Province faced off against Central Province and emerged victorious, earning the championship title while Central Province settled for the runner-up position.

The men’s final featured Northern Central Province and Southern Province, with Northern Central Province securing the championship and Southern Province finishing as runners-up.
