Sri Lankan athletes Sumedha Ranasinghe and Nadeesha Dilhani Lekamge, who both secured silver medals at the Asian Throwing Championships, returned to the island yesterday.
The tournament was held in South Korea, where the duo delivered impressive performances in their respective javelin events.
Officials from the Sri Lanka Air Force sports division were among those present at the airport to welcome the athletes.
Nadeesha Lekamge claimed silver in the women’s javelin throw with a distance of 56.79 meters, marking her best performance of the season.
Meanwhile, Sumedha Ranasinghe secured silver in the men’s javelin event with a throw of 76.95 meters, which also stands as his best performance of the current season.
