Sri Lanka’s Under-16 boys’ basketball team delivered a commanding performance in their opening match of the South Asian Youth Basketball Championship, defeating host nation Maldives by a massive 116–28.
The Sri Lankan players took control from the start, putting up 66 points in the first half while holding the Maldivians to just 16. In the second half, Sri Lanka continued their dominance, adding another 50 points, with Maldives managing only 12.
Gerald Aaron led the scoreboard for Sri Lanka, scoring an impressive 34 points.
The tournament is being held in the Maldives, and this convincing victory marks a strong beginning for Sri Lanka’s campaign.
