Australia posted 212 runs in their first innings, while South Africa responded with 138. In their second innings, Australia were restricted to 207, setting the Proteas a challenging target.
South Africa resumed play on the fourth day at 213 for 2, needing just 69 more runs to win. Despite losing three additional wickets, they successfully reached the target, rewriting the record books.
