Sri Lankan athletes delivered an impressive performance at the Thailand Open Athletics Championship, securing one gold and two silver medals in today’s events.
In the men’s 1500-meter race, Rusiru Chathuranga claimed gold, showcasing dominant form throughout the event. Viknaraj Vokshan, also from Sri Lanka, followed closely behind to secure the silver medal, completing a strong one-two finish for the nation.
Meanwhile, Nimali Liyanarachchi earned silver in the women’s 1500-meter event, continuing her consistent record in middle-distance competitions.
This medal haul marks another success for Sri Lankan athletics on the Asian stage, highlighting the growing strength of its middle-distance runners.
