The Sri Lankan team that brought pride to the nation by winning three silver medals and eleven bronze medals at the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship held in Shimla, India from April 8 to 11, met Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage yesterday morning.
During the meeting held at the Ministry premises, the Minister engaged in a friendly discussion with the athletes and congratulated them on their achievements while extending his best wishes for their future competitions.
The Minister also posed for a group photograph with the players, coaches, and officials of the team.
At the tournament, Sri Lanka’s Under-19 girls’ team and Under-15 boys’ team secured silver medals, while the Under-15 girls’ team won a bronze medal.
In the individual events, Sanoth Duljith, Chanuki Akshana, Muthuli Sahanya, Akain Bojith, and Shamlya Devmi earned bronze medals for Sri Lanka.
The team was coached by Chathura Dushan and W.A. Buddhasiri during the tour.
