Kumarage clocked 46.31 seconds to finish eighth in the final.
Thailand’s Joshua Atkinson claimed the gold medal with a winning time of 44.90 seconds.
The silver medal went to the United Arab Emirates’ Sulaiman Abdulrahman, while Japan’s Joseph Nakajima secured the bronze medal.
Bahrain’s Salwa Naser produced a record-breaking performance in the women’s 400m, setting a new Asian Games record.
Naser crossed the finish line in 49.20 seconds to claim the gold medal.
Iran’s Zahra Sareie won the silver medal, while the bronze medal went to an athlete from India.
