Police Rugby Team Wins Clifford Cup After 33 Years

A Historic Victory Over Havelock SC at the Colombo Racecourse Grounds

The Police Rugby Team ended a 33-year title drought by clinching the Clifford Cup Rugby Championship, defeating Havelock Sports Club in the final held yesterday at the Colombo Racecourse Grounds.

At halftime, the Police team led 5-0. By the end of the match, they secured a 19-12 victory with two converted tries and a penalty.

This marks the first Clifford Cup win for the Police team since 1991. Akash Madhusanka of the Police team was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
