Sri Lanka’s Rumesha Tharanga and Sumedha Ranasinghe qualified for the final round of the men’s javelin throw at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, currently being held in Gumi, South Korea.
Rumesha impressed in the qualifying round, recording a throw of 83.71 meters on his first attempt, securing a spot in the final with ease.
Sumedha followed with a solid performance of 81.33 meters, also earning qualification for the final.
According to the qualification rankings:
- Rumesha Tharanga ranked second overall
- Sumedha Ranasinghe secured fourth place
Both athletes will now aim to bring home medals for Sri Lanka in the finals.
