Kamindu and Janith’s Stand Sets Zimbabwe a 299-Run Target

The first ODI between touring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe got underway today in Harare, with the visitors piling up 298 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Sri Lanka built early momentum as Pathum Nissanka scored 76 and Kusal Mendis added 38, putting together a solid 100-run stand for the second wicket.

The innings later gained real firepower through a rapid partnership between Janith Liyanage and Kamindu Mendis.

iyanage smashed an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls, while Kamindu hammered 57 off 36 deliveries, steering Sri Lanka to a commanding total with a 137-run stand for the sixth wicket.

For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets.

Zimbabwe now faces a challenging chase, needing 299 runs to win the opening ODI.
