Ireland registered the highest team total of the 2026 T20 World Cup so far, hammering 235/5 against Oman at the SSC Ground, Colombo, before sealing a dominant 96-run victory.

After winning the toss, Oman invited Ireland to bat first — a decision that proved costly.

Ireland Innings – 235/5 (20 Overs)

Ireland suffered an early setback, losing their first four wickets for just 64 runs. However, a game-changing fifth-wicket partnership turned the match on its head.

Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany added a stunning 101-run stand off just 58 balls.

  • Lorcan Tucker smashed an unbeaten 94 off 51 balls
  • Gareth Delany blasted 56 off 30 balls
  • George Dockrell chipped in with 36, including five sixes

For Oman, Shakeel Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets.

Oman Innings – 139 All Out

Chasing a daunting 236, Oman were bowled out for 139.

  • Aamir Kaleem scored 50 off 29 balls
  • Hamad Mirza added 46

Ireland’s bowlers wrapped up the innings efficiently:

  • Josh Little took 3 wickets
  • Matthew Humphreys and Barry McCarthy claimed 2 wickets each
