Sri Lanka’s national javelin champion, Rumesh Tharanga, has been awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10 million by Sri Lanka Cricket in recognition of his outstanding international achievement.
The award was officially presented today at Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters, as confirmed by the board in a statement.
This decision was made following a request by Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, with approval from Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee.
Rumesh Tharanga recently clinched a gold medal at an international athletics event held in Kenya, delivering an exceptional performance with a throw of 89.28 meters.
