The 26th Asian Athletics Championships heats up today in Gumi, South Korea, with Sri Lankan athletes set to compete in crucial final events.
Kalinga Kumarage and Nadeesha Ramanayake will represent Sri Lanka in the Men’s and Women’s 400m finals, respectively.
Kalinga qualified for the final after finishing second in his semifinal yesterday. His final is scheduled for 2:10 PM Sri Lanka time today.
Nadeesha secured her place in the final after placing third in her heat, and will compete at 2:20 PM Sri Lanka time.
Meanwhile, sprinter Chamod Yodasinghe advanced to the Men’s 100m semifinal after winning his heat with a time of 10.40 seconds. His semifinal will be held today at 1:45 PM Sri Lanka time.
In addition, Sri Lanka will be represented in the 400m Mixed Relay final, also taking place today. The team includes Aruna Darshana, Kalinga Kumarage, Nadeesha Ramanayake, and Nishendra Fernando.
Today marks a decisive day for Sri Lankan athletics as these athletes aim for podium finishes on the Asian stage.
