India strengthened their grip on the second Test against Sri Lanka, declaring on 503/9 on day two at the SSC Ground in Colombo.
India resumed the day on 300/5, with Saransh Jain dismissed early for 6. Rishabh Pant, who had retired hurt due to injury on day one, returned to the crease and went on to score 63 before becoming India’s seventh wicket.
The star of the innings was Dhruv Jurel, who produced a magnificent unbeaten 115 — his second Test century.
For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets as India eventually declared at 503/9.
Sri Lanka’s reply got off to a disastrous start. Lahiru Udara was dismissed for just 1, while Prabath Jayasuriya managed only 2.
