India have booked their place in the final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh by 40 runs in the first semi-final in Dubai yesterday.
The victory sees India reach the final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup for a sixth consecutive time, underlining their dominance in the competition.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to field first, giving India the opportunity to set the target. India responded with 149/6 in 20 overs, led by a brilliant 64 from Shafali Verma. Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 24 runs, while Bangladesh’s Sultana Khatun claimed two wickets.
Chasing 150 for victory, Bangladesh managed 109/7 in their 20 overs. Dilara Akter scored 21, while Shorna Akter remained unbeaten on 22.
For India, Deepti Sharma was the standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Nandani Sharma claimed two.
India will now play in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final on September 13.
India have previously won the Women’s Asia Cup three times and finished runners-up on two occasions. Sri Lanka won the 2024 edition, with India finishing as runners-up.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final of the 2026 Women’s T20 Asia Cup will see Sri Lanka take on Pakistan in Dubai tonight at 8:00 PM Sri Lanka time, with the winner advancing to the final against India.
