Sri Lankan boxer Mohamed Huseith has advanced to the quarter-finals of the men’s boxing competition at the Asian Games, securing his place among the final eight boxers in the 80kg weight category.
The bout was held at the Nishio Indoor Stadium in Japan, with Huseith becoming the first Sri Lankan boxer to compete in today’s preliminary round.
Huseith faced Cambodia’s Anwar Nasraddinov in his opening bout and produced a strong performance to secure a 4–1 points victory.
The result sees Huseith progress to the quarter-finals, which are scheduled to take place on September 27.
The Asian Games are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
