Sri Lanka A registered a commanding eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan A under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the ongoing Tri-Nation One-Day Tournament today.
The tournament features Sri Lanka A, India A, and Afghanistan A, with matches being played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
After winning the toss and batting first, Afghanistan A were bowled out for 245 runs in 49.4 overs. Hasan Eisakhil was the top scorer for the visitors with 46 runs.
Rain interrupted play during the match, resulting in Sri Lanka A being set a revised target of 231 runs from 41 overs.
The home side made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 28.1 overs while losing only two wickets.
Leading the charge was Avishka Fernando, who produced a superb innings of 108 not out, anchoring the chase with authority. He was well supported by Sadeera Samarawickrama, who contributed a fluent 60 runs.
The emphatic victory strengthens Sri Lanka A’s position in the tournament and highlights the excellent form of Avishka Fernando ahead of future international opportunities.
