The league stage of the Indian Premier League officially came to an end yesterday with Delhi Capitals defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 40 runs.
Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted an impressive 205 for 5 before bowling Kolkata out for 163.
KL Rahul starred for Delhi with a blazing 60 off just 30 balls, while Ajinkya Rahane fought hard for Kolkata with 63 off 39 deliveries.
Delhi’s bowling attack sealed the win through strong performances from Lungi Ngidi, who claimed 3 wickets for 27 runs, alongside Kuldeep Yadav with 3 for 29 and Mitchell Starc with 2 wickets for 26 runs.
Despite the victory, both Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders failed to qualify for the playoffs.
The final top four standings see Royal Challengers Bengaluru finish first, followed by Gujarat Titans in second, Sunrisers Hyderabad in third, and Rajasthan Royals in fourth place.
Qualifier 1 between RCB and Gujarat Titans will be played tomorrow in Dharamshala, with the winner advancing directly to the IPL 2026 final. The losing side will still get another opportunity to qualify.
Meanwhile, the Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals is scheduled for Wednesday in New Chandigarh. The losing team will be knocked out, while the winner will face the loser of Qualifier 2 on Friday for a place in the final.
The IPL 2026 final is set to take place on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
