Sri Lanka A Women’s Cricket Team secured the T20 series against New Zealand A Women’s Cricket Team 2-1, despite losing the third and final match by five wickets today.
The match was played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
Batting first, Sri Lanka A Women struggled with the bat and were bowled out for just 78 runs in 16.5 overs. Sathya Sandeepani was the top scorer with 16 runs.
New Zealand A spinner Jess Watkin delivered a match-winning spell, picking up four wickets to put Sri Lanka under pressure throughout the innings.
In reply, New Zealand A Women chased down the target in 18.5 overs with five wickets in hand to secure a consolation victory.
Despite the defeat, Sri Lanka A Women won the three-match T20 series 2-1 after claiming victories in the opening two matches.
