Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wrapped up the first round of IPL 2025 with a dramatic and powerful run chase, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 6 wickets in their final league match yesterday.
Batting first, LSG posted a massive total of 227 for 3, led by a sensational unbeaten 118 runs from skipper Rishabh Pant, while Mitchell Marsh contributed with a solid 67 runs. For RCB, Nuwan Thushara, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Romario Shepherd picked up a wicket each in their first outing of the season.
In reply, RCB chased down the target with ease, scoring 230 for 4 in just 18.4 overs. Stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 85 runs, supported by Virat Kohli with 54 runs and Mayank Agarwal with an unbeaten 41 runs. Will O’Rourke was the pick of the bowlers for LSG, claiming 2 wickets.
With this emphatic win, RCB secured second place in the IPL 2025 points table.
