South Africa cruised to a 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Women’s ODI World Cup match held at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first, but rain interrupted play when they were 46 for 2 after 12 overs. The game later resumed as a 20-over contest.
Sri Lanka posted 105 for 7 in their allotted overs, with Vishmi Gunaratne top-scoring with 34 runs, while Nilakshi de Silva added 18 runs.
Under the Duckworth-Lewis method, South Africa were set a target of 121 runs in 20 overs.
Openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits chased it down effortlessly in just 14.5 overs without losing a wicket. Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 60, scoring her 37th ODI half-century, while Brits contributed an unbeaten 55.
With this win, South Africa moved up to second place in the points table with 8 points.
