The Sri Lankan boys’ and girls’ teams have both qualified for the finals of the South Asian Under-16 Basketball Championship.
The tournament is being held in the Maldives.
The Sri Lankan boys’ team defeated both Bangladesh and the Maldives in their first two matches. Yesterday, they faced India and lost 111 to 79. By halftime, the score stood at 50 to 35 in favor of India.
The final match of the tournament between Sri Lanka and India is scheduled for this evening.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan girls’ team played against Bangladesh yesterday and secured a convincing victory with a score of 87 to 21. At halftime, the score was 50 to 6 in Sri Lanka’s favor.
Anuki Abeypala was the top scorer for Sri Lanka, contributing 24 points.
Previously, the Sri Lankan girls won one match and lost one. Their final match, too, will be played against India this evening.
