A 24-year-old Asian Games record set by Sri Lankan sprint legend Susanthika Jayasinghe in the women’s 100m was broken today at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
Seventeen-year-old Chinese sprinter Yujie Chen clocked an impressive 11.06 seconds in the women’s 100m final to set a new Asian Games record.
Chen broke Jayasinghe’s previous mark of 11.15 seconds, which had stood since the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.
Singapore’s Shanti Pereira claimed the silver medal in the event.
