Sri Lanka Women suffered a five-wicket defeat against West Indies Women in their latest fixture of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Batting first, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for just 98 runs. Nilakshika Silva top-scored with 30 runs, while Kavisha Dilhari contributed 21 in a challenging innings for the Islanders.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews led the charge with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 15 runs, while Karishma Ramharack provided excellent support with 2 wickets for 15 runs.
In reply, the West Indies reached the target in the 19th over, completing a comfortable five-wicket victory.
Despite the modest target, Sri Lanka’s bowlers managed to claim five wickets and made the chase slightly competitive.
Veteran batter Stafanie Taylor anchored the innings with an unbeaten 27 runs, guiding her team safely across the finish line.
For Sri Lanka, Kavisha Dilhari impressed with two wickets, while Chamari Athapaththu and Nimasha Mipage chipped in with a wicket each.
The victory lifted West Indies Women to third place in the tournament standings, while Sri Lanka Women remain in fifth position as they continue their campaign.
