India A were crowned champions of the Tri-Nation One-Day Tournament after defeating Sri Lanka A by 66 runs in the final at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka A elected to field first, but India A’s batting unit produced a dominant performance to set up a title-winning victory.
Opening batters Priyansh Arya and Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave India A a flying start, putting together a brilliant 132-run opening partnership.
Suryavanshi stole the spotlight with a breathtaking innings of 94 runs off just 29 balls, smashing five fours and five sixes.
The young batter also etched his name into the record books by registering the fastest half-century in List A cricket history, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls.
The previous record was held by former Sri Lankan cricketer Kaushalya Weeraratne, who scored a fifty off 12 balls against Canada A in 2005.
India A captain Tilak Varma added a valuable 67 runs, helping his side post a formidable 377/9 in 50 overs.
For Sri Lanka A, Kugathas Mathulan, Ravindu Fernando, and Wanuja Sahan claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a daunting target of 378, Sri Lanka A fought hard but were eventually bowled out for 311 in 47.1 overs.
Sadeera Samarawickrama contributed 52 runs, while Wanuja Sahan impressed with 62 runs, but the hosts were unable to keep pace with the required run rate.
India A’s bowlers ensured there would be no late comeback, with Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam picking up three wickets apiece.
The comprehensive victory sealed the championship for India A, capping off an impressive campaign in the tournament.
