In a thrilling opener of the Sri Lanka Cricket-organized T20 tournament, Team Greens outplayed Team Blues by 4 wickets, kicking off their campaign in style at the SSC Ground, Colombo.

Batting first, Blues posted a modest 143 all out in 19.4 overs, with Pathum Nissanka scoring 28 and Kusal Perera contributing 24. The Greens’ bowling attack was spearheaded by Chamika Karunaratne, who claimed 3 wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with 2 scalps.

Chasing 144 for victory, the Greens reached the target in 16.5 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Chamika Karunaratne played a stellar all-round role, remaining unbeaten on 47, and Kamindu Mendis added 36 valuable runs. For the Blues, Dasun Shanaka picked up 3 wickets and Akila Dananjaya grabbed 2, but their efforts weren’t enough to prevent defeat.

The tournament features players from the Sri Lanka National Team, Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team, and Emerging Squad—adding a competitive edge to each fixture.

The second match of the series is set for tomorrow, with Team Greys taking on Team Blues, once again at the SSC.
