The opening Super 8 clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was abandoned due to rain today.
The much-anticipated encounter between Pakistan and New Zealand was scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, but persistent showers forced officials to call off the match without a ball being completed.
As a result, both teams were awarded one point each.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will begin their Super 8 campaign tomorrow against England. The match is set to be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, starting at 3 PM local time.
The Lions will be aiming for a strong start as the race for the semi-finals heats up.
