After a monumental run chase, South Africa clinched a thrilling 4-wicket win over India in the second ODI played yesterday in Raipur. Chasing a massive target of 358, the Proteas reached 362/6 in the final over, matching their best successful chase against India.
India, asked to bat first due to evening dew concerns, posted an imposing total of 358/5.
Virat Kohli struck his 53rd ODI century with 102 off 93, while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden ODI century—105 off 83. Captain KL Rahul added an unbeaten 66 off 43 to power India to a dominant total.
For South Africa, Marco Jansen took 2 wickets, while Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi claimed one each.
South Africa’s reply was sensational.
Aiden Markram anchored the chase with a superb 110 off 98, his first century in a run-chase. Temba Bavuma (46), Matthew Breetzke (68), and Dewald Brevis (54) ensured steady momentum throughout.
Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna claimed two wickets each for India.
With this win, South Africa levelled the series 1–1, setting up a decisive third ODI to be played on Saturday, the 6th, in Visakhapatnam.
