Sri Lanka’s U-19 women’s cricket team was forced to exit the ongoing U-19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia after their Super Six stage match against Scotland was abandoned due to rain.
Despite having one remaining match against Australia in the Super Six stage, Sri Lanka was eliminated from the tournament as they could no longer accumulate enough points to progress.
During the group stage, Sri Lanka secured victories over Malaysia by 139 runs and the West Indies by 81 runs, earning them a place in the Super Six round. However, they suffered a 60-run defeat against India in the first match of the second stage.
As of now, Sri Lanka holds only 3 points in the Super Six standings. Meanwhile, both Australia and India have already secured 6 points each, making it impossible for Sri Lanka to advance further in the competition.
