India Storms into Women’s World Cup Final After Record-Breaking Chase

India has booked their place in the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Final after pulling off a historic run chase against Australia in Mumbai. Chasing a mammoth target of 339 runs, the Indian women sealed victory by five wickets in the 49th over — one of the greatest chases ever in women’s ODI history.

Batting first after winning the toss, Australia posted a competitive 338 all out, thanks to a brilliant 119 off 93 balls from Phoebe Litchfield and a quickfire 63 off 45 by Ashleigh Gardner. For India, Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, India’s batting lineup showed remarkable composure. Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the innings with a match-winning unbeaten 127, while Harmanpreet Kaur added a crucial 89 runs to guide India home in style.

This successful chase not only marks the highest run chase in Women’s ODI World Cup history but also propels India to the final — their first-ever World Cup title opportunity.

The final will feature India vs South Africa, making it the first Women’s World Cup Final without England or Australia — guaranteeing a new champion in women’s cricket.
