The India national cricket team successfully defended their title, winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time after defeating the New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final.
The championship clash was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad before a massive crowd.
After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to field first. India responded with a huge total of 255 for 5 in their 20 overs.
Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 89 off 46 balls, including five fours and eight sixes. Ishan Kishan added 54, while Abhishek Sharma contributed 52.
For New Zealand, Jimmy Neesham claimed three wickets.
Chasing a daunting 256-run target, New Zealand lost their first five wickets for just 72 runs. Tim Seifert scored 52, while Mitchell Santner added 43.
However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled, with New Zealand bowled out for 159 in 19 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets, while Axar Patel picked up 3 wickets.
With this emphatic victory, India secured the T20 World Cup title for the third time, and for the second consecutive tournament, cementing their dominance in the shortest format of the game.
