Sri Lanka Army cyclist Pathum Weerasinghe claimed victory in the second stage of the Police Cycle Tour, which started today from the Dambulla Police Station and finished in Puttalam.
The Police Cycle Tour is being held to mark the 160th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police, with around 150 riders taking part in the event.
The opening stage began yesterday morning near the Police Headquarters in Colombo. The riders made their way through Peliyagoda, Nittambuwa, Warakapola, Kurunegala and Melsiripura before reaching Dambulla, where the first stage concluded.
Pathum Weerasinghe also dominated the opening stage, securing first place. Chathura Madhushan of the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council finished second, while Chamod de Silva of the Sri Lanka Air Force took third.
The second stage got underway this morning from near the Dambulla Police Station, with the route passing through Maradankadawala, Thirappane, Anuradhapura, Nochchiyagama and Kalaoya, before the riders reached the finish in Puttalam.
