Pakistan secured the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a match to spare after registering a convincing 83-run victory in the second game yesterday.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis elected to field first. Pakistan capitalised on the decision, posting an imposing 215 for 3 in their 20 overs.
Pakistan made another strong start, building an opening partnership of 55 runs before their batters took control of the innings.
Maaz Sadaqat starred with a blistering 96 off 55 balls, smashing six fours and seven sixes. Captain Sahib Sahibzada Farhan also made a significant contribution with 73 runs.
Sri Lanka made three changes to their line-up, bringing in Binura Fernando, Chamindu Wickramasinghe and debutant Sineth Jayawardena.
However, Sri Lanka’s bowlers struggled to contain Pakistan’s aggressive batting, while missed opportunities in the field, including three dropped catches, further hurt their chances. Eshan Malinga, Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka claimed one wicket each.
Chasing 216 for victory, Sri Lanka managed only 133 for 7 in their 20 overs, falling well short of the target.
Sri Lanka’s top order failed to produce a substantial contribution, with Maheesh Theekshana emerging as the team’s top scorer with 32 runs. Chamindu Wickramasinghe added 29, Kamindu Mendis scored 23, and Sineth Jayawardena contributed 22.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Imran led the bowling attack with three wickets for just 11 runs, while Salman Mirza claimed two wickets.
The victory gave Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series, leaving Sri Lanka with only the final T20I to play for pride.
