Sri Lanka’s national javelin champion Rumesh Tharanga has once again broken the national record in the event.
He achieved this milestone during an athletics competition held today at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium.
Rumesh Tharanga recorded an impressive throw of 89.37 meters, setting a new benchmark in Sri Lanka’s javelin throw history.
According to the current world rankings, he is now placed 7th in the world in this event.
Previously, Tharanga himself held the Sri Lankan national record, which stood at 86.50 meters. Earlier this year in February, he also delivered a strong performance in a competition held in Australia, where he recorded a throw of 83.07 meters.
This latest achievement marks another major moment for Sri Lankan athletics as Tharanga continues to improve his performances on the international stage.
